Teen charged with attempted murder over Walsall barber shop shooting

A teenager has been charged with attempted murder after a 23-year-old man was shot at a Walsall barber shop.

Uzair Shahid, aged 19, from Lichfield Road, Walsall, has been remanded into custody following the shooting at Katz Kutz, in Wolverhampton Road, Birchills, on May 19.

The victim was shot in the stomach inside the shop and was treated for serious but not life-threatening injuries.

Shahid is due to appear before Wolverhampton Crown Court on July 25.

A 17-year-old boy was previously arrested on suspicion of attempted murder and he remains on bail.

Detective Inspector Chris Fox, from force CID, said: "This is a significant step forward in our investigation but we still need to hear from anyone who may have information which can assist our enquiries."
