A man has been charged with murdering a father at a shared accommodation property – as the victim's family paid an emotional tribute to him.

Dean Bayliss

Dean Bayliss, aged 57, was found dead by a care worker at an address on Oxhill Road, Handsworth, at around 12.30pm on Thursday.

A post-mortem examination found he had suffered several stab wounds to his neck.

Hardeep Bhachu, 36, of Oxhill Road, has been charged with murder and was due to appear at Birmingham Magistrates Court today.

The family of Mr Bayliss, who are being supported by specialist officers, said they had been left "utterly heartbroken and devastated" by the loss of a "great man".

They said in a statement: “The news of Dean’s sudden death has left us utterly heartbroken and devastated.

“Dean was a much-loved father, stepfather, brother, uncle and friend to many, many people.

“Dean was a great man, selfless, loving and happy. He did not deserve to have his life end this way.

“We would like to sincerely thank everyone for their messages of support, which continues to bring us great comfort during this emotional time.”
