Pensnett crash inquest: Victim Charlie Burgoyne suffered severe head injury

A 17-year-old girl who died in a car crash suffered a fatal head injury, an inquest heard.

Charlie Leigh Burgoyne, from High Oak, Pensnett, was a passenger in a car that lost control on Tansey Green Road, Pensnett, on May 23, Black Country Coroner's Court was told.

She was pronounced dead at the scene.

The coroner's office confirmed her cause of death was a severe head injury due to a 'vehicular accident'.

Arthur Pinches, 27, also of High Oak, has been charged with causing death by dangerous driving and dangerous driving

He is in police custody and will appear at Wolverhampton Crown Court in June.

The inquest was opened on Friday and adjourned while police officers continue their investigation into the crash.

Miss Burgoyne, born in Wordsley, was a student hairdresser.

After the crash, Charlie's mother paid tribute to her as a beautiful princess.

The coroner's lead officer, Margaret Collins, said: "The road traffic collision occurred involving one vehicle.

"It would appear Charlie was the passenger of the vehicle being driven by the driver.

"For an unknown reason, the driver has lost control of the vehicle in a residential area causing the vehicle to crash, causing major injuries to Charlie.

"Her cause of death was severe head injury due to vehicular accident."
