The pedestrian, aged in her 50s, was struck just before 10.30am today on Willenhall Road.

West Midlands Police confirmed that they have arrested a 30-year-old man on suspicion of dangerous driving.

They confirmed that the woman's injuries are serious but not believed to be life threatening.

The busy road, which acts as a major route connecting Wolverhampton and Walsall, was closed off as emergency services dealt with the incident.

West Midlands Ambulance Service spokeswoman Claire Brown said: "One ambulance and a paramedic officer attended where they treated one woman, the pedestrian, who had suffered serious injuries.

"She was given trauma care at the scene before being taken on blue lights to Queen Elizabeth Hospital Birmingham."
