Arrest after man stabbed in Smethwick street

A man was taken to hospital after being stabbed in an attack in Smethwick.

Police arrested a 48-year-old man on suspicion of wounding following the attack, in Manor Road, at around 8pm.

The victim, a man aged in his 30s, was stabbed in the arm and leg but his injuries are not believed to be serious.

The suspect, who was also arrested on suspicion of possessing cannabis, remains in police custody today for questioning.

A West Midlands Ambulance Service spokesman said: "We treated one patient, a man, and he was taken to hospital for further treatment."
