Barry Keay, from Eccleshall, was jailed for 15 years for rapes and indecent assaults he carried out in the Stafford area.

The 60-year-old admitted two counts of rape carried out in 2016 and five counts of indecent assault between 1978 and 1984.

The victims were girls aged under 16.

Keay, of High Street in Eccleshall, pleaded guilty on March 25 and was sentenced on Friday at Stafford Crown Court.

His 15-year jail term was made up of:

  • Nine years in prison for each count of rape to be served concurrently.

  • Six years in prison for two of the counts of indecent assault, with a separate sentence of eighteen months for the three other counts to be served concurrently.

Deemed as a dangerous offender by the judge, Keay was also given an extended licence period of six years, meaning he could spend up to 21 years behind bars.

He was also subjected to a sexual harm prevention order.

Detective Constable Zoe Thompson, of Staffordshire Police, said: "The bravery of these two witnesses giving evidence has led to Barry Keay's jail term.

"We will always do whatever it takes to bring offenders to justice, while ensuring victims and their families are offered the support they need."
