One acre of woodland was decimated by the blaze yesterday evening after a deliberate attack.

Around 20 hours later, another crew was tackling a grass fire nearby to the A513 for Shugborough.

The crew from Stafford, with five firefighters, used backpacks and beaters to put out the fire, which affected ground that stretched 100 metres by 25 metres.

Staffordshire Fire Service spokeswoman Lauren Jeal added: "We were called at 12.02pm to a grass fire near on the A513 near Shugborough.

"One crew from Stafford attended, and the cause is believed to be accidental.
