The woman had got out of her Ford Fiesta just after 5pm at the Spar on Wardles Lane last night to post a letter when she was pushed aside.

She suffered minor injuries to her hand and face and the vehicle was later recovered in Creswell Crescent in Walsall.

Police are now appealing for a member of the public who may have witnessed the robbery to come forward.

Detective Sergeant Cathryn Holland, from force CID, said: “Thankfully, the woman suffered minor injuries but has been understandably left shaken.

“We believe a woman was in the area and may have vital information that may assist with our investigation and would ask that person to come forward.

“Enquiries are currently on-going and an investigation is underway but anyone with information is asked to call us on 101 quoting incident number 591 of 17 April.

“Alternatively, call Crimestoppers for guaranteed anonymity on 0800 555 111.”

A 13-year-old boy has been arrested on suspicion of robbery. He remains in custody.
