Schoolboy hit with hammer during park attack

A teenage boy was hit in the head with a hammer after a fight broke out in Lightwoods Park.

Police were called after violence flared Lightwoods House, in the park in Bearwood, at around 8.30am today.

Officers believe the 15-year-old was hit with a hammer.

He was taken to hospital with a head injury, which is not life-threatening, say West Midlands Police.

Another boy, also 15, suffered a minor facial injury.

People took to Facebook to condemn the violence in the park grounds, off Hagley Road West.

An investigation has been launched
