The assault took place outside the Fox and Goose pub, in Greets Green Road, shortly before 8pm on Friday, April 5.

The 29-year-old victim suffered a serious head injury and remains in hospital in a critical condition.

West Midlands Police has now released an image of a man who gave first aid to the victim at the scene, who they are keen to speak to as part of their investigation.

Do you know who this man is?

DC Daniel David, from West Midlands Police, said: "This was an extremely serious assault, which has left the victim fighting for his life.

"We are extremely interested in speaking to the man who gave first aid to him at the scene. He may have significant evidence that will help us to understand what happened.

“We are aware that the picture quality is poor, but hope it will jog someone’s memory. If this is you or you recognise the man in the picture, please get in touch with us.”

A 34-year-old man has been charged with wounding with intent, in connection with the incident.

Nathan Bell, of Highmoor Road, Rowley Regis, appeared at Dudley Magistrates Court on Monday. He will next appear at Wolverhampton Crown Court on May 7.
