Police say the truck was parked outside the Tesco Express, in Cookley, near Kidderminster, when the thieves struck.

The cigarettes were then loaded into a white Mercedes sprinter van.

The truck was parked outside the shop, in Bridge Road, at around 2.10pm on Tuesday.

It is believed that a blue Audi A4 estate may have also been in the area at the time.

West Mercia Police has appealed for any dashcam footage of either vehicle in the Kidderminster area.

Officers are also keen to hear from anyone who may have spotted the Audi or the Mercedes van changing number plates throughout the day.

A similar incident took place earlier that morning, at around 8.15am where the thieves, using the same vehicles, struck twice on the A41 near to Grindley Brook in Whitchurch, Shropshire, and stole cigarettes and tobacco from a Tesco delivery vehicle.

Detective Sergeant Mat Crisp said: "We are keen to speak with anyone who may have seen either of the incidents involving Tesco delivery vehicles."

Anyone with information can call West Mercia Police on 101, quoting incident number 342S of April 2, or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111.
