Four men brandishing the weapons entered the fast food restaurant at Castlegate Business Park yesterday.

They attacked a cash security guard, leaving him with cuts to his legs and back.

But police say the would-be thieves were forced to flee empty-handed from the Castlegate Drive branch shortly before 2pm.

The gang left the scene in a Hyundai, which had been stolen from Aldridge earlier this month.

The getaway vehicle was tracked and stopped near Junction 3 of the M6 for Coventry around 10pm.

A 20-year-old man from Leicestershire was arrested on suspicion of attempted robbery and theft of a motor vehicle, West Midlands Police said.

He remains in police custody today.

Officers are looking for any mobile footage from the attack.

Anyone with footage or any information is urged to contact police via Live Chat at west-midlands.police.uk between 8am and midnight, or by calling 101 anytime.
