A man was taken to hospital with head injuries after being involved in a fight in Walsall.

Police were called to Newport Street in the town at 6.40am today to reports that a man had been injured after being punched.

Officers sealed off Bradford Place following the incident.

A spokesman for West Midlands Police said: "Police were called to Newport Street in Walsall at 6.40am today to reports that a man had been injured.

"He was taken to hospital and it is believed he suffered a head injury when he fell to the ground after being punched.

"His injuries are not thought to be serious and investigations continue."
