Alexander McDonald smashed his way into the pubs in Stourbridge and Halesowen before raiding tills, gaming machines and pool tables.

Over a two-month between December 2018 and January 2019, he even returned to target the same pub on three separate occasions, the court was told.

He targeted the Glassworks pub, off Audham Road, on December 8, January 3 and January 30. He also raided the Chequers Inn and the Stourbridge Lion, both in High Street, Stourbridge, on January 8 and January 21 respectively.

As well as targeting the pubs, the 30-year-old also raided a McDonald's restaurant, in Park Road, Halesowen on December 31, 2018, at around 11.15pm. He smashed a glass window of the drive-thru restaurant – before stealing a Ronald McDonald charity box containing around £200, the court heard.

His crimes were caught on CCTV footage – and thanks to an eagle-eyed officer on the Dudley offender management team who recognised his bag and shoes.

McDonald, who has more than 40 previous offences on his record, was identified as the prime suspect.

He was subsequently arrested and charged with six counts of burglary.

McDonald, of Gibbs Road, in Lye, pleaded guilty to the offences at Wolverhampton Crown Court and on February 28, he was jailed for two years.
