Walsall men fined after illegal fishing

Two Walsall men will have to fork out more than £1,300 in total after being caught fishing illegally.

Jevgenijs Rumjaceus, of Dora Street, Walsall, was charged with fishing without a rod licence and taking, destroying or attempting to destroy o take fish from a private fishing pool or place with private fishin rights at Mythe Pool in Tewkesbury, Gloucestershire, on July 28 last year.

The 51-year-old pleaded guilty at Cheltenham Magistrates' Court and was fined £500 as well as being ordered to pay costs and a victim surcharge totalling £157.47.

Mihails Rumjaceus, 44, of Talke Road, Walsall, pleaded guilty to wilful obstruction of a fisheries bailiff, fishing without a licence and failing to give his name and address to the bailiff. He was fined £375 and ordered to pay costs and victim surcharge totalling £280.

And Virginijus Narutis, 50, of Foden Road, Birmingham, was charged with fishing without a rod licence and taking, destroying or attempting to destroy or take fish from a private fishing pool or place with private fishing rights, found guilty in his absence and was fined £345 and ordered to pay a victim surcharge of £157.47.

Magistrates heard on Monday that the three men were out fishing together at Mythe Pool, Tewkesbury, when they were caught. Magistrates granted an order for the angling equipment the three men had to all be forfeited.
