Murder arrest after man found dead at Netherton house

A man has been arrested on suspicion of murder after a body was found at a house in Netherton.

Emergency services were called to the home, in Hockley Lane, just after 11am on Sunday.

West Midlands Police detectives are treating the death as unexplained.

A post-mortem is taking place today.

A man, aged in his 20s, was arrested on suspicion of murder and is currently in custody.

A West Midlands Police spokesman said: "The death is currently being treated as unexplained and officers are keeping an open mind around the circumstances of the incident."

West Midlands Ambulance Service crews were called to reports of a patient in cardiac arrest.

Spokesman Murray MacGregor said: "At the scene we unfortunately confirmed the death of a male and we handed over the incident to the police."

Police found the man just after 11am on Sunday

A neighbour who lives opposite said it is a very quiet street.

He said: “I’ve lived here 29 years and it’s the best street I’ve ever lived on, I’ve never had any trouble.”

Another resident said she took her grandchildren to the park at around 11am yesterday and there was an ambulance outside and another coming up the road with blue lights.

She said she came back at 2pm and the house was cordoned off and police were outside.
