Christopher Dunkley was remanded on bail for a pre-sentence report after entering his plea at Wolverhampton Crown Court.

The 44-year-old was a support worker at the residential home in Dudley Road, West Bromwich, and was accused of "pinning down" Lester Tharp on October 6 2017.

Dunkley was said to have had his knee in the back of the the disabled man, also aged 44, who was face down on the floor while his wrists were allegedly being held by the defendant.

Mr Tharp was released when other members of staff saw what was happening.

Mr Tharp suffers from autism, is profoundly deaf and has significant learning difficulties. He has been a resident at the home, where he receives a very high level of care, for around 14 years.

He was not injured in the incident which led to the dismissal of Dunkley from Rookery Road, Handsworth, who had cared for him for some time.

The defendant was remanded on bail until March 7 when he is expected to be sentenced.
