Wanted man hit by van after trying to escape police in Dudley

A wanted man who tried to escape from police officers in Dudley is now in hospital after running straight into the path of an oncoming van.

The incident happened in Wolverhampton Street, Dudley

Police were trying to apprehend the 28-year-old, who was wanted on a recall to prison, in Wolverhampton Street on Saturday afternoon, when he was hit.

He suffered face and arm injuries and is now in hospital waiting for surgery before being taken back to prison.

West Midlands Police apologised to the public for any inconvenience caused at the time of the incident, which happened at about 2.30pm.

The driver of the van is being supported by specialist officers.
