Two suspects were arrested after the incident, which involved a 'lengthy foot chase' and a police helicopter in Rowley Regis yesterday.

West Midlands Police's Force Response Unit tweeted in the aftermath of the incident saying three people had been arrested - but a spokeswoman for the force later confirmed two people were in custody.

Officers from the Dudley Town Twitter account responded to the tweet saying: "Superb work. Listened in and some of my team came to help with containment. Perseverance paid off."

A spokeswoman for West Midlands Police said: "Officers have arrested two people following a break in at a nursing home in Mace Street, shortly after 7am on Sunday morning.

"A 27-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of burglary and a 26-year-old woman has been arrested on suspicion of conspiracy to burgle. They both remain in police custody."

The home was contacted but did not want to comment on the break-in today.
