The shocking burglary is believed to be one of three carried out in one night leaving a trail of destruction.

Shops are thought to have been targeted in Wednesbury and Willenhall causing thousands of pounds worth of damage in the early hours today.

The Wednesbury Costcutter shop, in Crankhall Lane, was targeted.

It is understood the Cash Man shop, in Spring Head, Wednesbury, and another convenience store in Bloxwich Road South, in Willenhall, have also been burgled.

West Midlands Police confirmed that up to five men wearing balaclavas used the car to reverse into the Costcutter shop.

While they added they were also investigating burglaries at the other stores – but would not confirm whether they believe it is connected to the other raid.

"The shutters were broken, the doors thrown to the floor, everything was just broken, the ceiling had been hanging down.
