Elderly woman suffers broken arm in attempted bag snatch at Kidderminster shopping centre

A woman in her 90s has been left with a broken arm after a man tried to snatch her bag at a Kidderminster shopping centre.

The pensioner was on an escalator in Roland Hill shopping centre at 3pm on Thursday, December 27, heading towards Vicar Street when the incident occurred.

The 90-year-old woman felt a tug on her bag, turned, and saw the man standing next to her, with the zip of her bag open.

When she looked at him, the man brushed past, knocking her over.

No items were taken from the bag, but the woman suffered a cracked bone in her arm.

Officers from West Mercia Police are appealing for information after the incident.

A spokesperson for West Mercia Police said: "The man is described as being of large build, eastern European looking, and wearing dark clothing.

"Enquiries are currently ongoing but officers are keen for anyone who saw the incident, who witnessed anyone acting suspiciously or who was in the area at the time to come forward."
