A couple were threatened with a 10-inch knife and held in the bathroom as three masked men raided their home in Codsall at around 8pm on Monday.

The robbers forced a pair of trunks over the man's head and pushed a cushion into the woman's face after getting in through the back of the house on Downie Road.

The victims - who are both aged in their 50s - were forced into the bathroom, where they were watched by one of the men as the other two raided their home.

They were released around 10 minutes later, shaken but with no physical injuries, as the robbers made off in their black Audi Quattro.

A variety of items were stolen including £1,300 in cash, jewellery, a phone, a black leather Fat Face purse with a heart-shaped clasp, a South Atlantic Medal war medal for service in the Falklands War with the number D1910251J on it and commemorative crown coins.

The suspects are described as dark skinned, of medium build and were dressed in dark clothing with black cotton fabric covering their faces with eyes cut out.

Detective Inspector John Quilty, from Staffordshire Police, said: “This is a very serious offence that left the couple extremely shaken up in their own home.

“We are currently investigating this incident to ensure that the men involved are brought to justice.

“Anyone with information or anyone that may have seen the men should call 101 quoting incident number 802 of 10 December. Alternatively, contact Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.”

The stolen Audi has the registration number BK13 WMW.
