The home, in Old Fallow Road, Cannock, had its bay window completely destroyed after the car crashed into it during the early hours of Saturday morning.

Sharon Ansell, age 33, and her 17-year-old son Jamie Evans were sleeping upstairs when the smash occurred, which also took out a 50-inch TV and table.

Adam Brough, age 20, of Patterdale Road, has been charged with driving a motor vehicle while above the alcohol limit.

He is due to appear at Cannock Magistrates Court on January 2.

Mrs Ansell said she walked downstairs to see the empty window frame and the back end of the car.

"It was the loudest thing I've ever heard. I crept downstairs and the front room was open onto the road, then I could see the back end of the car.

"I'm still shaking now. Normally my son sits in the front room to watch TV, it's lucky it was in the night."

Police said it was remarkable that there were no injuries.
