A gang broke into the 86-year-old's bungalow, in Milton Close, Palfrey, before stealing a large quantity of cash.

The woman was unhurt but has been left shaken, say West Midlands Police.

Police have launched an appeal to trace the burglars after the raid at around 8.30pm on October 22.

A West Midlands Police spokeswoman said: "It’s believed two or three offenders forced entry to the front of her bungalow, searching the property and ransacking the living room where the 86-year-old was sitting.

"She was powerless to stop them or raise the alarm and they fled the scene with a large quantity of money."

Detective Constable Nicola Williams, from Force CID, said: "Although unhurt, this was a terrifying experience for the woman, who has been left frightened in her own home.

"We are urging anyone who may have any information or who has witnessed anything to come forward."

Call police on 101 or contact Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 quoting log number 20WS/244340U/18.
