Kevaughn Redden, aged 22 and from Dudley, was arrested on Saturday at an address on Griffin Street in Netherton.

He was charged with two counts of burglary and possession of an offensive weapon and appeared at Dudley Magistrates this morning.

He was remanded in custody and will appear at Wolverhampton Crown Court on November 5.

It comes after an 85-year-old man was attacked, grabbed around the throat and pinned to a chair at his home in Devereux Road, near Kenrick Park in West Bromwich, on September 14.

The culprit fled the scene and is believed to have also smashed his way inside a conservatory at an address nearby.
