Arrest over Walsall hit-and-run that left police officer seriously injured

A 51-year-old man has been arrested after a hit-and-run crash in Walsall which left a female police officer seriously injured.

Police have been searching for a suspect since the incident took place last week.

Yesterday, a man was found at an address in Birchills, Walsall, and arrested on suspicion of assault.

He remains in police custody.

The police officer, aged 50, remains in hospital recovering from multiple injuries, including a serious head injury, broken ribs and punctured lung.

She was attempting to diffuse a domestic incident in Hatherton Street on Thursday last week when she was hit by the car.
