Woman, 23, seriously injured in Cannock hit-and-run

A young woman is in a critical condition after being seriously injured in a hit-and-run collision in Cannock.

It happened at about 3.45pm on Saturday, when a dark-coloured vehicle hit a red Ford Fiesta, which in turn collided with a white Mitsubishi recovery truck on the A5 by Oak Lane.

Police say the dark-coloured vehicle did not stop at the scene and enquiries are ongoing to trace the vehicle and the driver.

A spokesman said: "A 23-year-old woman, from Cannock, was seriously injured. She was taken the Royal Stoke University Hospital by ambulance and is in a critical condition.

"The driver of the recovery truck, a 24-year-old man from Sandbach, was not injured.

Officers want to speak to anyone who witnessed the collision. Anyone with information should call Staffordshire Police on 101 quoting incident number 588 of 28 July 2018.
