Police officer in court after alleged assault near Halesowen Bus Station

A police officer is due to appear in court charged with two assaults and attempting to pervert the course of justice.

Pc Kevin McClenaghan has been charged in connection with an incident which happened following the arrest of two women after a disturbance near the bus station in Halesowen on December 22 last year.

An investigation was launched by the Independent Office for Police Conduct and the officer was subsequently charged with of assault occasioning actual bodily harm.

The officer faces a further charge of attempting to pervert the course of justice, which relates to the completion of a witness statement arising from the same incident.

Pc McClenaghan was due to appear at Birmingham Magistrates' Court on Thursday.
