In the seconds leading up to the alleged stabbing, 19-year-old victim Reagan is seen in a confrontation with another man, unaware of the assailant advancing on him from behind.

The video was shown in painstaking detail as part of the prosecution case in the trial of Tyrone Andrew, 23, charged with Mr Asbury’s murder last October after violence erupted at a boxing match at Walsall Town Hall.

More from the trial:

Clashes between rival supporters spilled out onto Leicester Street, where Andrew allegedly stabbed two other men before fatally attacking Reagan Asbury.

Trouble broke out minutes earlier inside the hall, at the end of the IBF Youth World Lightweight title between Walsall fighter Luke Paddock and his opponent Myron Mills from Derby.

Hundreds of people attended the bout which attracted many ‘away’ fans, sat on two VIP tables, despite Mills being a late replacement for another boxer.

The jury has been handed a name chart to help them identify and track up to 50 people allegedly involved in skirmishes on October 14.

DC Spencer Jenkins, of West Midlands Police homicide unit, spent three months poring over camera footage from Walsall Council and two pubs, the Tap & Tanner and The Saddlery in the town centre.

Giving evidence on the third day of the trial, he picked out Andrew waiting outside the town hall, who was initially attacked and knocked off his feet by Walsall fans streaming out of the building.

He is seen being kicked and punched on the ground by three people, among them Paddock supporters, Phillip Smith, Lee Hickinbottom.

The defendant raises a leg to protect himself before getting to his feet and stooping to pick up an object from the ground, said to be the murder weapon.

During the tussle Mr Smith was stabbed in the stomach and back although he did not realise he had been injured until later.

Andrew, of St Helen’s Street, Derby, denies murder.

Declan Kemp-Francis, 23, of Dickens Square, Sunny Hill, Derby, and Lavelle Patrice, 22, of Heavenwood Grove, Littleover, Derby, deny violent disorder and Ryandeep Sidhu, 22, of Lidgate Close, Derby, denies assisting Andrew by taking possession of the alleged murder weapon.

Kemp-Francis also denies assisting the defendant by driving him away from the scene.

The trial continues.
