Warning over bogus police calls to elderly people

By Tom Oakley | Streetly | Crime | Published:

A bogus police officer has been targeting elderly people in Walsall.

A woman in Streetly reported that she received a call from a man purporting to be with the police.

She was told her card details had been cloned and that someone had been arrested following the incident.

The woman became suspicious and put the phone down.

PCSO Tracy Ash said: "We have had another call from an elderly resident in Streetly saying they have received a call from a male purporting to be a police officer and that their card details have been cloned and they have an offender in custody.

"The female became suspicious and put the phone down. Please inform your elderly relatives about this scam and or call the police if you receive a similar call."
