Man, 20, shot dead in Birmingham

A 20-year-old man was shot dead in Birmingham today.

West Midlands Police have launched a murder investigation after the shooting in South Holme, near to Garrison Lane, in the Bordesley area just after midnight.

Despite the efforts of the ambulance workers the victim was declared dead at the scene.

DI Jim Colclough from the Homicide team, said: “We are in the very early stages of this investigation where a young man has tragically lost his life.

“We are in the process of piecing together what has happened and I would urge anyone who has any information at all to call me or my team on 101”.

A cordon along Garrison Lane and South Holme remained in place this morning as forensic examinations took place.
