The victim was asleep at the time of the offences and knew nothing about them until she picked up the mobile phone of Andric Quinn by chance.

She had intended to play the game Candy Crush but saw a video icon on the screen and opened it, said Mr Scott Coughtrie, prosecuting.

He continued: “When it played she saw herself being indecently assaulted. She later told police the images made her feel physically sick.”

The 44-year-old defendant said they had been playing ‘sex games,’ a claim she vehemently denied during the trial which ended with the jury finding him guilty of both offences of serious sexual assault despite his denials.

The video was deleted before the police investigation was launched but an IT expert recovered photos from the footage.

Mr Simon Hanns, defending, said: “The defendant still maintains his innocence but realises he must accept the verdict of the jury.

“It was never intended that the video would be for public consumption.”

The case took two-and-a-half years to complete because of the difficulty in finding court time for the trial to be heard.

Quinn from Meadow Avenue, West Bromwich, was sent to prison by Judge James Burbidge QC who also put him on the Sex Offenders Register for life.
