The 37-year-old was taken to hospital with a fractured leg, broken and fractured pelvis.

Police said the driver failed to stop to help him after the incident on the slip road leading to the Thornleigh Trading Estate on Dudley Southern Bypass at Farthings Lane at 7.15pm on Wednesday.

Sgt Ade Brown appealed for witnesses, adding: “We now believe we’ve identified the type of vehicle involved and it’s only a matter of time before we identify the driver.”

“If anyone has noticed unexplained damage to a car since Wednesday evening, or any unusual behaviour from a friend, relative or colleague, we’d urge them to get in touch.

“I’d appeal directly to the driver to come forward to us, before we come knocking on their door.”

Anyone with information is asked to contact 101 giving log number 2003 of December 13.
