Ricky Walker is accused of murdering Kayden Walker in Walnut Close, Moxley, on June 12 last year.

He is further charged with ill-treatment or neglect of his son between December 16, 2015 - the day Kayden was born - and the day he died.

Kayden was found collapsed in the Walsall home and died later the same day in hospital.

Walker, of Kendrick Road, Bilston, has also been charged with causing or allowing the death of a child as well as ill treatment or neglect of a child.

The 26-year-old showed no emotion as he appeared at Walsall Magistrates Court this morning.

Wearing a grey zipped adidas sweater, Walker did not indicate to the court how he will plea during the two-minute hearing.

District Judge David Webster, said: "These charges can only be dealt with at the crown court, and only that court has the power to consider the question of bail so there is nothing for me to do but to send the case to Wolverhampton Crown Court.

"The first hearing will be next Tuesday."

Walker was remanded in custody.

Kayden’s mother, 23-year-old Laura Davis, has been charged with causing or allowing the death of a child, and ill treatment or neglect of a child.

She has been bailed to appear at Walsall Magistrates Court in the coming weeks.
