James Barnes was found dead at the bungalow in Linforth Drive, believed to be his parent's home, shortly before midnight on Monday.

His wife Amy was then discovered around 40 minutes later at a house in Cofton Park, Rednal, Birmingham, which is believed to have been the pair's home.

Neighbours there said they were a 'normal, friendly couple'. James is said to have recently updated his Facebook profile picture to one of his wedding day.

West Midlands Police has launched an investigation into a suspected murder-suicide after the deaths of the couple in their 30s.

A spokesman for the force said: “At this early stage it’s understood the woman was murdered before the man took his own life in the garden of the Streetly address.

“Detectives are not currently looking for anyone else in connection with the deaths.

“Forensic post mortem examinations will take place in due course on the deceased who were both aged in their 30s.

“Both areas have been cordoned off while enquiries continue to establish the circumstances.”

West Midlands Ambulance Service attended Linforth Drive shortly after 11.55pm last night.

Two ambulances, a paramedic officer and a MERIT trauma doctor were sent to the scene.

A spokesman said: “On arrival, crews discovered a man who was in cardiac arrest.

“Unfortunately, it quickly became apparent that nothing could be done to save him and he was confirmed deceased.”

There was plenty of police movement at the Streetly address this morning, despite the calm appearance on Linforth Drive.
