Wolverhampton teen arrested after huge modified blade found

A huge knife has been seized and a 16-year-old arrested after reports of a hit-and-run in Wolverhampton.

West Midlands Police was responding to reports of a hit-and-run crash when they discovered the massive modified blade in a car.

A 16-year-old boy ran away from the scene and climbed over a roof to get away from the police. But he was later arrested and detained on suspicion of dangerous driving and possession of an offensive weapon. He has been released under investigation.

Officers were called to Devoran Close in Whitmore Reans just before 4am on Sunday.

Sharn Braich, a spokeswoman for West Midlands Police, said: "Officers were called to Devoran Close in the Whitmore Reans area of Wolverhampton just before 4am on Sunday 17 September to a report of a car involved in a collision which failed to stop.

"Upon arrival, a boy was identified running away from the scene, before climbing up a roof to get away from police.

"A 16-year-old Wolverhampton boy was later arrested for dangerous driving and possession of an offensive weapon after a modified sword-like knife was located in the car.

"He has been released under investigation while enquiries continue."
