Man arrested after high-speed chase in Stafford

A motorist led police on a high speed chase in the early hours of the morning, careering into two parked cars before abandoning his vehicle and fleeing on foot.

The dramatic scenes unfolded in Stafford this morning around 3am.

Staffordshire Police officers were able to hunt down and catch a suspect with the help of sniffer dogs.

A 22-year-old man from the town was arrested on suspicion of affray, dangerous driving, and having no licence and insurance.

The man also provided a positive roadside drug swipe.

He remains in custody while the investigation is on-going.

A force spokesman said: "A 22-year-old man from Stafford has been arrested following a vehicle pursuit in the town at around 3am this morning.

"During the pursuit the vehicle was in a collision with two parked cars. The offender then made off on foot but was located with the help of the Dogs Support Unit."
