Bilston High Street murder: Stab victim named as John Joyce as man charged over killing

A man stabbed to death near Bilston High Street was named tonight as John Joyce, as police charged a man with his murder.

Mr Joyce, 20, died when trouble flared near the Horse and Jockey pub.

The victim was found injured in Lichfield Street and died at the scene, after police were called to reports of disorder which is believed to have started at around 11.30pm on August 17.

Two other men were injured and taken to hospital. They were not in a serious condition.

Tonight police said that Lyndon Smith, who had been in hospital since the incident, had been charged with murder.

Smith, 46, of Owen Road, Bilston, has been remanded in custody to appear before magistrates in Walsall on Saturday.
