Jurors at Birmingham Crown Court found Troy Ktori, from Wolverhampton, guilty of the manslaughter of ex-serviceman Charles McInally, but cleared him of murder and wounding.

During the trial jurors were told that Ktori, 27, a treble youth Thai boxing world champion originally from Heath Town, plunged the knife through the throat of Mr McInally, 55, after an argument with his housemate Carl Martin following a day of binging on booze and cocaine in Birmingham last year.

Mr McInally, a former member of 11 Signals Regiment, was found dead on his sofa in a pool of blood on August 7.

Jurors had previously heard that after a day of drinking in the Seven Stars pub in Birmingham on August 7 with Mr Martin, mutual friend Matthew Roper and Crystal Jeffries, Ktori's girlfriend, the five went back to the Brewers Square home shared by Mr McInally and Mr Martin in Edgbaston for a cocaine binge.

After a fall-out, Ktori punched Mr Martin twice in the face before leaving, the jury heard.

The court was told that later that evening, Ms Jeffries was asked to engage in a threesome with Mr McInally and Mr Martin, prompting Ktori to fly into a rage.

Mr Martin said Ktori lunged at him with a knife pulled from his trousers. After deflecting it with his hand, Mr Martin claimed he fled through the house, chased by Ktori.

It was alleged that Ktori then knifed Mr McInally through the throat before fleeing the scene, knife in hand.

However, the defence had said that Ktori stabbed Mr McInally by accident, meaning to push him but forgetting he had the 9in kitchen knife in his hand.

Ktori, now of Shenstone Road, Edgbaston, had claimed he was trying to avoid being attacked when Mr McInally was fatally wounded and claimed he was unarmed when he returned to the Edgbaston house for a showdown with Mr Martin.

When the latter opened the door, he was carrying a knife, claimed Ktori.

Ktori is due to be sentenced tomorrow after the jury reached its verdict this afternoon.
