A man today denied the manslaughter of a 22-year-old who died following a flat fire in Kidderminster.

Sandra Nowocinska died four days after being rescued from the fire at her flat in Horsefair. Her five-year-old son was also injured in the blaze on November 27 last year, but has now recovered.

Appearing at Worcester Crown Court today, Mark Moat, aged 42, also denied arson being reckless as to whether life of another would be endangered.

The fire broke out on November 27 last year

Moat, of Wilkins Close, Highley, near Bridgnorth, denied a third charge of arson in relation to a separate incident on August 23 last year.

Moat was remanded in custody. A trial is expected to begin on February 1 next year.
