West Midlands Police spokesman said a 69-year-old woman from Halesowen had withdrawn £50, but had mistakenly left it in the machine and the next customer had taken the money.

It happened at Sainsbury's Petrol Station in Halesowen Street, Blackheath between 11.55am and 12.10pm on November 15.

"It would be classed as theft by finding because the person knows full well that the money is not theirs and there is a very strong chance of being able to find who that money belongs to."

Anyone who can identify the man should contact Pc Howe at West Bromwich police station on 101 or call Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
