Police were called to an address in Churchfield Avenue on Monday after the 55-year-old man was found by his son. He is in a critical but stable condition.

A 31-year-old man and 45-year-old woman, both from Tipton, were arrested on Wednesday. They were due to appear at Sandwell Magistrates Court today charged with wounding.

Tammy Price, aged 37, who has lived in Churchfield Avenue for nine months, saw police at the flat on Monday afternoon.

She said: "There were a couple of police cars, and I could see officers bringing stuff in bags out of the flat.

"They were also searching the skip that was outside.

"We haven't had any police come and see us at all, and we don't know what went on."

No-one was at the property believed to be occupied by the victim this morning.
