The firm reported a 113 per cent jump in sales to private buyers last year compared to 2019.

The Versaclimber, a vertical climbing machine offering a full body, low impact workout, is used by the likes of Sir Andy Murray, LeBron James and Spiderman star, Tom Holland.

Private sales were also boosted by continued demand from gyms and fitness centres using lockdown as a chance to revamp their facilities and upgrade equipment.

Neil Kelford, Versaclimber UK’s managing director, said the team had to move quickly in response to the sudden spike in demand.

He added: “Last year was tough for so many people, and exercise became even more important, not only to stay fit and relieve boredom but also to maintain our mental health.

“With gyms closed for long periods, we have been supplying Versaclimbers to people across the UK, including inner city flats, remote villages in the Cotswolds and the top of Scotland – not to mention elite athletes, TV presenters and even Hollywood superstars.

"We know what an uncertain time it has been for many businesses, so we’re incredibly grateful to all of our fantastic customers for all their support.”

Sales have already started strongly in 2021 and the company hopes to match last year’s success.
