Orton Group was crowned contractor of the year for businesses turning over up to £20 million at the Electrical Contractors Association Awards.

The company, which has headquarters in Wombourne, was also highly commended in the best client/partnership category at the ceremony held at Hilton Bankside, in London.

Andrew Lowe, managing director of Orton Group, explained: “We’re absolutely delighted to have won such a major award at such a highly regarded event. The ECA Awards recognise the best companies in the country. They’re an industry benchmark and a true recognition of excellence.

“So to be named Contractor of the Year, which is naturally one of the most high-profile categories, is a fabulous achievement for us. It’s an independent recognition of our success and well-deserved reward for our talented team.”

The award is the latest in a string of accolades for Orton Group, which provides electrical, mechanical and maintenance services to both public and private sector organisations across the UK.

The company, which also has an office in Redditch, Worcestershire, achieved substantial growth in 2018 to further establish its position as one of the leading companies of its kind.

It also introduced two additional departments, made significant investment in training and development and introduced a series of innovative measures to improve its processes and systems.

Judges were also impressed by the company’s contributions to major projects nationwide, its exceptional support to its supply chain and the maintenance of an outstanding safety record.

Set up in 1991 as a sole-trading company, Orton Group now employs more than 100 staff and over 100 contractors.

It works with some of the largest national organisations in the UK across the rail, commercial and industrial, new build and social housing sectors.
