The event, #EachforEqual, will see Sara Williams talk through her journey to become the chief executive of Staffordshire Chambers of Commerce, sharing some of the challenges she faced and overcame to become one of the most influential people in Staffordshire.

There will also be the opportunity to hear from two of the chambers’ most inspiring success stories: Peggy Bareh, who was supported through the chambers’ Boosting Women in Business scheme and Polly Hargreaves, who is leading on one of only four pilot projects nationally funded to encourage refugee entrepreneurship.

Christine Gilbert of Plum Happy will end the event with an interactive workshop designed to encourage confident and courageous networking.

The Women, Work and Wellbeing Network will bring women together in an activity led and relaxed forum that will explore what being a woman in business means both professionally and personally, how as a collective we can seek to reduce inequalities, provide a space to be bold, and build connections and confidence.

The network will see a variety of events throughout the year. This includes workshops on self-awareness and challenging self-limiting beliefs, social events such as a summer barbeque and Christmas party, and talks from inspirational speakers.

Members of the group will be able to network with likeminded people, make new goals, share resources, support the next generation of women in business to challenge inequalities, feedback to key influencers on challenges and how these could be addressed, and inspire and be inspired.

Sarah Colclough, project co-ordinator at Staffordshire Chambers of Commerce, said: “I’m so excited that we’re launching the Women, Work and Wellbeing Network to support women in our local business community. We know that women face barriers in the world of work, and we hope that the network will encourage women to come together to challenge inequality while sharing and developing their skills.”

Gemma Bourne, business growth enabler at event sponsor NatWest, added: “We are delighted to support this event which demonstrates just how important women in business are to the local economy and the important contributions they make within our communities.”

The event takes place from 9am to 1.30pm in Commerce House, Festival Park, Stoke-on-Trent. It is free to attend. Further information on joining the network will be provided on the day.
