The business, which sells household appliances such as washing machines and tech gadgets like mobile phones and laptops which people often buy on credit, is the UK’s only ‘no credit check retail store’ - director Andy Perry says.

The shop first opened its doors last August - with the idea having grown out of an online catalogue shopping business which Andy had been running since 2017.

Andy, who lives in Telford, said he wanted to open a physical store to get to know customers and build up trust with clients - hence the name.

The Trusty shop supplies goods without a credit check, but asks customers to make a number of initial payments up front before any goods are delivered to help build a working relationship.

Once the goods are delivered, the customer makes the remaining payments but the business offers flexibility on late repayments in exchange for up-front communications.

Andy told the Express & Star: “We ask customers to show two to four payments, one each week, before we give them the items.

“We don’t charge any interest or late fees or any of that nonsense.”

He said the new shop, which opened three months ago, has been a hit with customers with its “simple and honest” concept.

He said: “We’ve rebranded, it’s got a catchier name, and expanded and tried to make everything a bit better for our customers. It’s been really well-received.

“It’s a lot bigger and we’ve got lots of items on display and better offers for customers.

“It’s been great, the customers we’ve onboarded have performed brilliantly, defaults have been very, very low.”

He said the shop, run by store manager Greg Harris, has helped several hundred customers to buy items they may otherwise not have been able to and he added: “It’s been great - customers love it, we love them.”
