Thanks to a blanket wayleave agreement with the council, CityFibre will connect all properties managed by Wolverhampton Homes to the new full fibre network it is building across the city.

This agreement will ensure the rollout can progress smoothly, while making it possible for 22,700 customers to enjoy faster, more reliable full fibre-enabled broadband services.

Full fibre will ensure households can utilise the latest smart home technology, stream entertainment across multiple devices and make it easier to work from home, with virtually no buffering or lagging.

Sanjay Sudra, CityFibre’s strategic wayleave manager, said: “Digital access is a major issue facing communities across the UK and we are committed to addressing this problem.

"The Covid-19 pandemic has shown, more than ever, just how vital a fit-for-purpose connection is for work, play and keeping in touch. The agreement we have reached with Wolverhampton Homes will make a genuine difference to thousands of people living in properties across the city and we look forward to seeing tenants take advantage of the benefits Full Fibre will bring.”

Shaun Aldis, chief executive of Wolverhampton Homes, added: “We want to help make Wolverhampton an even better place to live and provide great homes in neighbourhoods where our customers can access training, skills and job opportunities. CityFibre’s full fibre network will be vital in ensuring Wolverhampton has a resilient and dynamic economy for decades to come, and the council’s blanket wayleave agreement will ensure our customers can enjoy the fastest and most reliable digital connectivity from the comfort of their homes.”

CityFibre is investing £50 million in Wolverhampton’s full fibre network which continues to gather pace.

The network is not yet live but once activated, services will be available from an increasing range of broadband providers. Across the UK, CityFibre is already working with launch internet services provider partner Vodafone, Zen and TalkTalk to deliver next generation broadband services.
