Kevin Paul Hirewear has been a staple of the community in Hednesford for more than 25 years, offering bespoke suits for formal occasions, such as weddings and black-tie dinners.

Owner Jag Sandhar took over the shop two years ago following the retirement of Kevin Paul.

Like many businesses, the shop was hit by the lockdown, having to close for nearly three months, with all staff furloughed.

The 46-year-old from Pelsall said the business had also had to contend with the cancellations of a large number of weddings.

He said: “We were at the start of what is peak time for weddings, so we got caught in what was probably a perfect storm. This will put some pressure on us along with the rest of the industry, but we’ll try to make it work.”

Since reopening the shop has been operating a strict appointment-only policy, as well as hand sanitisers for staff and customers.

Jag said he believed the shop could still prosper and offered his thoughts on why people should shop locally.

He said: “We exist thanks to word of mouth and I think that counts as people can support businesses that have a good reputation."
