Bosses hail PM's 'build, build, build' pledge
The Prime Minister's pledge to "build, build, build" has been hailed as a timely boost for the region's construction industry.
Bosses at firms across the West Midlands say Boris Johnson's emphasis on infrastructure as part of his 'New Deal' has served as "reassurance" at a time when many businesses are looking to bounce back after the coronavirus pandemic.
The PM visited Speller Metcalfe’s Institute of Technologies (IOT) project in Dudley this week, before announcing the fast-tracking of £5billion of major national schemes including roads, hospitals and schools.
James Speller, pre-construction director at Speller Metcalfe, said: "The news of an ‘infrastructure shake up’ to boost spending and construction projects is both timely and reassuring for the construction industry during the Covid pandemic.
"The visit by the Prime Minister to our site at the Institute of Technologies was an opportunity for him to see the forward-thinking infrastructure that Dudley and the wider Midlands region can deliver."
