Construction of the £160 million shopping centre has been ongoing since July last year and is due to finish next year before the complex opens in the autumn of 2020.

About 1,000 jobs are expected to be created at the shopping village, which will feature around 80 brands, restaurants, cafes, and 1,400 car parking spaces.

The completed outlet will include a square with a coffee kiosk, “dancing fountain” and art, where events will be held throughout the year.

There will also be a children’s play area near the square, to back onto the nature reserve.

The project will also see £1.5 million invested into various projects in the area including the ongoing maintenance of the Mill Green Nature Park, improvements to Cannock town centre and the railway station, and support for developing skills and employment prospects for local people.

Mike Thomas, centre manager for McArthurGlen’s West Midlands Designer Outlet, said: “Work at the site is progressing well, with building facades coming on nicely and store fit-out works due to start next year.

"We’re really looking forward to opening in autumn 2020 and our thanks go out to everyone locally who has supported this exciting new retail destination throughout its journey so far, paving the way for new jobs and what is set to be a major economic boost for Cannock.”
